Carlos and Maria Rivarola

This was what was Bylaugh
Now no more because it could never be the same again, could it?

We keep this copy as a souvenir

Rivarolas - the last weekend - 6/7 July

They are not scarey as some people have imagined from their photos.
No - they are quite the opposite - all their students here love them.
And their dance and their teaching as you know is simply beautiful.
Do come if you can - you will be delighted by everything

It has been almost unbearable waiting so long for the return of this wonderful couple to Bylaugh. I know, half of you have been booked since last year. It all seems so obvious when they leave - we'll be able to practice that and get it perfect we think. And in a month or two we will be ready for something else from them. But instead we start to forget the nuance, then forget a bit more and so on...... then we loose it.

But they will be back in June and July for two weeks. If you have not joined classes with them, then now is the time. They attend to that bit of tango which seems unteachable. There is something in the music which is a bit rough and non-classical - Carlos and Maria search for a perfection in the dance yet which has this edge. But that is me talking - that is only a part of what I think they do. Everyone finds a different thing and many things.

We are very lucky indeed. They have agreed to be able to come for a very long time - 2 weeks. So we can really soak up the tango and all relax into Bylaugh and the whole tango retreat - enjoy the place, your private room and being near to the dance floors. The food and the other dancers company in the surroundings of Bylaugh itself.

We look forward to seeing you all

Intermediate and Advanced Workshops

Carlos and Maria have developed this system of teaching 'by the day' which goes over the material in different ways, so reinforcing the body's memory helping the student to turn a new concept into a natural response - and so to react spontaneously to the varying qualities within the tango music by way of dance improvisation.

The week and weekends will be Intensive workshops - one for Intermediate and the other more Advanced.
The content includes the  fundamentals of Salon Tango the starting blocks of this dance to develop this most perfect movement. But don't worry about it being too easy either - those who have been to these wonderfully enjoyable sessions with Carlos and Maria will remember how absorbing the classes are, and how all levels gain so much, so exciting and so satisfying.

Similar Workshops were held in Rome after Bylaugh. We went to Rome to find a fantastic group of people and the opportunity to go over the Rivarola technique even more thoroughly. This year - for the ardent - there are two weeks in England to indulge yourself before joining him abroad.
